Hey everyone! Here's out mid-march email update! Staff will be sending out email updates to users once or twice a month from here on out! It's going to be a fun, interesting, new way to get in touch with our users, and keep everyone informed!
So, the forum has undergone a few changes! First, we had a security update, so the forum was down for a little bit, but it's back up and running now! These security updates are done so that the board is safe from potential violations.
We've also switched the theme! The last theme was a little difficult to navigate. So, we've fixed that, and replaced it with a more user friendly theme! So, hopefully this makes posting and participating on the forums much easier than it had before!
We also added a super cool new feature! User blogs! Hopefully you guys like them! Now, instead of just posting a thread in the diaries section, users can click on "my blog" in the upper right, and they can post to their very own, on site blog and it directly links their blog to their profile! Very cool stuff! Users are still welcome to post in their diary threads, but we're going to be encouraging the use of the blogs! After all, it keeps things clean and all in one place!
We're also considering bringing back the use of the Karma system on the board, but we need your input! Do you think we should bring karma back? And if we do, would you like it to be public (you know who gave you the karma) or anonymous (no one knows except staff)? Go on the forums, and let us know what you think in the global announcement poll!
Also, we've changed the registration process due to some confusion. Before, you could register for the main site, however, you had to wait until your account could be validated by a staff member before you could use the forums. Until it was validated, it showed "This board contains no forums" when you tried to view the forums. Now, you will have immediate access to the forums once you register, however, your posts will need to be approved by an administrator until you've earned a higher rank on the boards. This is a trial though. We're hoping this will work well for users, and if it doesn't, we may change registration again.
Also, be on the lookout for a new about page, "Pregnancy & Eating Disorders."
We're still looking for people to make videos for the GV youtube! If you're interested, drop us a line and let us know! Also, we're planning an eating disorder interview project for the site youtube! If you're interested in this, let us know you'd like to participate!
Have a great day!

So, as many of you may know, Glitterveins has been undergoing a great deal of changes. These changes might be a little new to you at first, but they are part of what will continue to make GlitterVeins one of the best sites out there.
We now have site-wide membership. This means, your login for the main site will work on the forum and vice versa. I have considered integrating memberships from the old socialite site, but am not sure if I should or not.
Among many of the new features, is a chatroom, a new (much cooler) social networking site, and a classifieds section. I invite you to post in the classifieds, as well as start getting active on the social networking side of the site! These are all very valuable resources! And unless used, glitterveins will not continue to grow! Lets make this place even more amazing by the minute!
I know the changes will take some of you some time to get used to, but rest assured, these changes will ensure growth of our amazing home!

Okay. So, I updated each of the lyrics pages with an embedded youtube video of that song, however, I don't like most of the videos! I was thinking... GV has it's own youtube account, so perhaps users could create videos (using windows movie maker or other video making software) and we can upload them to GV's youtube account, and then add them to the main pages. How does this sound to everyone?
I don't mind what the videos are of. The only thing I ask, is that somewhere in the begining, it says Glitterveins.com and that it's got good quality sound (not static-ey) and again at the end! For example;
You can view an example video by clicking here.
The songs we need done are; Lucy At The Gym-By Jill Sobule Sophie's Anorexia Story-By Eleanor McEvoy Ana's Song-By SilverChair Mary Jane-By Alanis Morissette 4st 7lb-By The Manic Street Preachers Cars And Calories-By Saves The Day Anorexic Beauty-By Pulp Big Isn't Beautiful-By King Adora Courage-By SuperChick Paper Bag-By Fiona Apple She's Falling Apart-By Lisa Loeb Someone I Once Knew-By Dead Celebrity Status Me And Mia-By Ted Leo And The Pharmacists
So, pretty much, if you want to make a video, let me know which one! And please do not use photos from the site unless whoever they belong to, gives you permission |
